LEGO Robotics Instructor
STEAM Works ATX is seeking enthusiastic, dependable instructors to lead engaging after-school LEGO® Robotics classes for elementary students (K–5) across South & Central Austin. Using LEGO® Education robotics kits, instructors guide students through hands-on engineering, coding, and problem-solving activities in a fun, supportive learning environment.
No robotics experience is required—we provide comprehensive paid training, curriculum, and all classroom materials. Our goal is for every instructor to confidently lead classes independently. New instructors begin alongside an experienced partner teacher to learn our curriculum, classroom management strategies, and teaching style before transitioning into leading classes on their own. Larger classes (typically more than 10 students) are staffed with both a lead instructor and a partner teacher to ensure students receive the best learning experience.
Responsibilities include leading engaging after-school classes, creating a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment, encouraging student participation, using positive classroom management strategies, collaborating with partner instructors, communicating professionally with STEAMWorks staff and school personnel, traveling to local school sites, and assisting with classroom setup and cleanup.
We're looking for individuals who are reliable, enthusiastic, adaptable, take initiative, communicate well, and enjoy inspiring children through hands-on STEAM learning. Applicants with significant experience working with children will be prioritized. Experience as a teacher, tutor, camp counselor, coach, nanny, or in other youth programs is highly valued.
Classes are held at elementary schools throughout South & Central Austin during weekday afternoons. Typical hours are approximately 2:30 PM–5:30 PM. Instructors typically teach one class per day, Monday through Friday, based on their availability and assigned schedule. Additional opportunities to earn hours are available throughout the year through STEAM nights, community events, school events, and our summer camp programs.
This position is ideal for college students, recent graduates, aspiring teachers, engineers, STEM majors, psychology majors, child development majors, communications majors, or anyone passionate about working with children and education.
