Intern Budget and Policy
This program gives students as well as recent graduates the opportunity to gain new skill sets while also building connections, both personally and professionally. *Applicants not located in the Austin area are responsible for obtaining housing and or transportation*
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs support work for division advisors.
- Assists advisors by conducting research, completing various assigned projects, and contacting state agencies and constituents.
- Drafts correspondence, reports, and memos.
- Analyzes previous and current legislation to aid in future policy proposals.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Self-motivated, time management, organized, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively with division advisors, state representatives, and other government officials.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of Texas government, the legislative process, and current policy issues.
- Previous experience in government, public policy, and legislation.
- Currently enrolled as a junior, senior, graduate or law student, with no more than one year past graduation from an accredited college, university, or graduate program.
Available to start September 2, 2026, for Fall 2026 session.
Intern supervisors will be providing feedback to interns on a consistent basis to ensure the intern has a successful internship.
The internship is a volunteer position and is NOT paid.
The intern will be working up to 25 hours a week in this division.
