Summer 2026 | Veteran Academic Success Center (VASC) Guide
As a Military-Connected VASC Guide, you will be responsible for helping serve the military-connected community through tailored programs and initiatives. This position is great for military-connected students who want to serve fellow military-connected students in their transition to campus and in their personal and academic success.
Job Requirements
- Minimum overall GPA of 2.6
- Be a military-connected student on a Federal educational benefit (Veteran, ROTC cadet, Spouse or Family Member on a Federal benefit such as Post 9-11 GI Bill ®, Federal Tuition Assistance, or VA Vocational Rehab)
- Strong interpersonal skills
Job Duties
- Assist military-connected students transition to TXST campus and San Marcos Community
- Help students become familiar with Veterans Affairs, university and community benefits and resources via campus tours, informational meetings, etc.
- Advise and refer students to appropriate resources
- Schedule face-to-face meetings as required
- Attend and encourage attendance at veteran and military-connected events hosted by the University
- Participate in all required training(s)

Employee evaluation process
- Each employee is evaluated at a minimum of once a semester by their direct supervisor on job duties and expectations that are established during training.
Payrate Determination
- Payrates are set by the department budget allocations. Pay rate for this position may increase based on tenure in position and/or increased responsibilities assumed such as serving in a student leadership position.
