Student Worker – Summer Shop Support Assistant (In-Person) 

Department: School of Theatre, Dance, and Film 

Location: Theatre Center/Off-Site Storage 

Position Type: Work-Study (Summer I & II) 

Hours: Up to approved work-study allocation.

Position Overview 

The School of Theatre, Dance, and Film is seeking a motivated and organized student worker to assist with summer production support projects in both the Costume and Properties areas. This position will play an important role in preparing facilities, storage spaces, and inventories for the upcoming academic year.  

The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working on organizational projects independently while contributing to the overall readiness of the department's production spaces.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Costume Shop Support 

Assist with organizing and setting up the department's new costume shop. 

Help transition the former costume shop into classroom and storage space. 

Organize, sort, and restock costume inventory and supplies. 

Assist with storage management and workspace improvements. 

Properties Shop Support 

Organize the properties shop and storage areas. 

Assist with inventory organization and material storage. 

Support preparation projects for Fall productions. 

Help maintain clean, safe, and efficient workspaces. 

General Responsibilities: 

Organize supplies, tools, equipment, and materials. 

Label, inventory, and document storage locations as needed. 

Assist faculty and staff with special summer projects. 

Maintain safe working practices and a clean work environment. 

Required Qualifications 

Current Texas State University student eligible for student employment or work-study for the summer semesters. 

Good academic standing with the university. 

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 

Ability to manage tasks independently and follow directions. 

Dependable work ethic and positive attitude.  

Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft. 

Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 15 pounds. 

Ability to work in shop, storage, classroom, and backstage environments.  

Preferred Qualifications 

Interest in theatre production, technical theatre, costume technology, or properties. 

Experience with inventory, organization, or storage management. 

Basic shop experience. 

Welding experience is a plus but not required.
