Operations Strategy Intern
The Operations Strategy & Process Intern will work directly with leadership to help evaluate how operational workflows function across our branch network and identify opportunities to improve scalability through process standardization, workflow redesign, automation, and AI-enabled operational improvements.
The intern will document current-state workflows, identify operational inconsistencies and administrative inefficiencies, and help assess which business activities are candidates for AI-assisted workflows, automation, decision support, and operational streamlining.
This role sits at the intersection of operations, process engineering, and applied AI transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct interviews and workflow sessions with branch and corporate stakeholders
- Observe and document operational processes across multiple branch locations
- Develop process maps, swimlane diagrams, workflow documentation, and SOPs
- Identify process inconsistencies, manual workarounds, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies
- Analyze operational differences across branches and identify opportunities for standardization
- Evaluate repetitive or administrative workflows for automation and AI enablement opportunities
- Identify operational workflows that are repetitive, rules-based, manually intensive, or highly dependent on administrative coordination
- Help assess operational readiness for automation and AI implementation
- Organize findings into structured operational recommendations for leadership
- Maintain centralized process documentation and workflow repositories
- Assist in developing future-state operational workflow recommendations

Preferred Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business, Supply Chain, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Management Consulting, or related discipline
- Experience with process mapping or workflow documentation tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, Miro, or Microsoft Visio
- Strong Excel and organizational skills
- Strong interest in operational transformation, workflow automation, and applied AI within business operations
- Familiarity with AI productivity tools, workflow automation concepts, or business process optimization strongly preferred
- Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, operational excellence, or continuous improvement concepts is a plus
