Regional StoryLab Lead

Position Type: Summer Contract / Independent Contractor (Form 1099)

Compensation: $300.00 Per Active Workshop Week + $300.00 Milestone Bonuses + Direct Digital Commissions ($19.00–$20.00 per signup)

ABOUT US

Tangerine Carp is a boutique British educational publishing house and creative IP ecosystem. Our flagship offering, DUFE Club, gives children aged 7–12 raw, screen-free storymaking engines - highly tactile monthly packs that guide kids through original worldbuilding, character architecture, and comic-style cinematic storytelling. This summer, we are launching premium, physical StoryLabs across high-income, creative suburban communities in Texas and North Carolina, where every child walks away as a physically published author.

THE ROLE

We are appointing exactly one Regional StoryLab Lead per territory to take full entrepreneurial ownership of their local launch. We provide the fully structured curriculum framework, complete onboarding training, and the digital payment infrastructure. You provide the local presence, the site selection, the organizational drive, and the high-energy delivery that turns kids' ideas into physical books.

This hybrid summer role has two core areas of responsibility:

1. Regional Brand Ambassador & Site Selector (Flexible Prep Hours)

Before workshops kick off, you will establish your territory's footprint. This includes selecting and securing a local venue partnership (such as a local historic church hall or community arts room) using our insurance credentials. From there, you will drive our grassroots local marketing engine: coordinating with children's librarians to secure community poster placements, getting featured in local homeschool networks, and engaging professionally with regional parent groups online using our unique digital check-in tools.

2. Lead StoryLab Facilitator (Active Workshop Weeks)

You will lead our premium, physical 4-day worldbuilding and creative publishing workshops - 3 hours per day, Monday to Thursday (12 hours total face-to-face delivery per active week). You will guide groups of up to 12 children through live, theatrical imagination sprints, helping them compile, design, and create original stories that are formatted directly into a unique, professionally printed book included as part of their workshop package.

TRAINING & SUPPORT

Upon contract signing, you will receive full access to the digital DUFE Scripted Guide, session playbooks, and creative assets. We host an interactive 60-minute group onboarding workshop covering material, pacing, and performance cues. You will be fully trained, verified, and confident before your first cohort begins.

COMPENSATION

  • Base Workshop Pay: $300.00 flat rate per active 12-hour workshop week.
  • The Hustle Milestone Bonus: An additional $300.00 flat bonus when your local cohort hits 10 paid registrations on our dashboard before the week begins - bringing your weekly workshop earnings to $600.00.
  • Digital Club Growth: $19.00 flat bounty for every Monthly Membership signup and $20.00 flat bounty for every Annual Membership signup tracking via your unique code.
  • High-performing ambassadors can realistically earn $400.00 to $600.00+ per week depending entirely on local community engagement.

Note: Workshop weeks run conditionally on meeting a minimum registration threshold of upfront paid ticket sales via our site.

YOU ARE A FIT IF YOU ARE:

  • A current university student or recent graduate (Creative Writing, Education, Drama, English, or Child Psychology preferred) living locally in the target territory with reliable transport.
  • A deeply energetic, confident storyteller who is completely comfortable facilitating groups of children and bringing creative characters to life.
  • Organizationally driven - unafraid to research and secure local venue spaces, and speak directly with librarians, homeschool coordinators, and parent networks.
  • Comfortable with self-employment tax filings under standard US 1099 regulations.

A standard national criminal and youth-safety background check is required prior to contract finalization.
