Summer 2026 | Student Office Assistant
Disability Services at Texas State University is seeking dependable and professional Student Office Assistants (SOAs) to provide front‑desk and administrative support. This position is Work Study eligible and offers an opportunity to develop customer service, communication, and organizational skills in a professional office environment. SOAs must be available to work a minimum of 15 hours per week and may work a maximum of 25 hours a week, depending on shift coverage needs.
Position Summary
Student Office Assistants serve as the first point of contact for Disability Services by providing courteous telephone support, greeting students and visitors, and maintaining a welcoming and organized office environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong attention to detail, critical thinking, clear communication skills, and a commitment to excellent customer service.
Required Qualifications
- Exceptional customer service, strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Available to work 3 or more hours at a time per shift, per day
- Ability to professionally manage a high volume of incoming phone calls while communicating efficiently and respectively while maintaining confidentiality
- Demonstrate punctual and reliable attendance, including arriving on time for scheduled shifts, meetings and trainings
- Ability to maintain a professional, business-casual appearance while representing Disability Services within the Division of Student Success at Texas State University
- Communicate clearly and effectively in written, verbal and reading-based tasks necessary for daily office operations
- Experience scheduling appointments
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to use standard office equipment including computers, copiers, scanners, and printers
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with guests while fostering a welcoming environment
- Answer and screen incoming calls using professional phone etiquette
- Schedule appointments with staff and manage basic administrative tasks and programming initiatives
- Respond to inquiries from students, faculty, staff, and guests with accurate information
- Utilize office equipment including computers, copiers, scanners, and printers
- Support daily office operations and Disability Service outreach events
- Participate in required professional development opportunities, including at least two Division of Student Success trainings per semester and all mandatory student employee trainings

Work Schedule: While enrolled in an academic semester, student employees are limited to a maximum of 25 hours per week. International students may work up to 20 hours per week.
