Reports to: VP of Marketing Operations and Analytics

Compensation: Paid Internship (rate determined by experience/hours)

Location Requirement: In-person/Hybrid (as applicable)

Who are you?

BBB Heart of Texas is seeking a motivated college student or recent graduate who is eager to learn about nonprofit operations, marketing, and community engagement. You enjoy working collaboratively, communicating with others, and supporting initiatives that make a positive difference. You are organized, detail-oriented, and excited to gain hands-on professional experience in a supportive, mission-focused environment.

About the position

As a Fund Development Intern, you will support the day-to-day marketing operations. This internship offers valuable exposure to nonprofit marketing initiatives and exposure to website management, email campaigns, social media, and marketing analytics.

This role is designed to provide meaningful learning opportunities, professional mentorship, and practical experience that will complement academic coursework.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities -

Website & Digital Content Support:

  • Update and maintain website content through the Content Management System (CMS).
  • Assist with publishing new pages, editing existing content, and ensuring accuracy.
  • Apply basic SEO best practices (meta descriptions, keywords, formatting).
  • Perform routine website audits to ensure usability and functionality.

Email Marketing Support:

  • Assist in creating and formatting email campaigns
  • Draft and edit email content aligned with marketing messaging
  • Segment email lists and support distribution
  • Help test campaigns (links, formatting, responsiveness) before deployment
  • Track and report on email performance metrics (open rates, click rates, engagement) 

Social Media Support:

  • Develop and schedule social media posts across platforms
  • Write captions and assist with basic graphic creation
  • Monitor engagement and respond or escalate comments/messages as appropriate
  • Track social media performance metrics and summarize results.

Content Creation & Campaign Support:

  • Assist with writing and editing blogs, newsletters, and marketing content
  • Support campaign development through content creation and coordination
  • Repurpose content across digital channels (website, email, social media)
  • Maintain a content calendar and support scheduling efforts

Marketing Analytics & Reporting:

  • Track and compile performance across web, email, and social channels
  • Assist in preparing reports and dashboards for the Marketing team
  • Identify basic trends and provide insights to improve engagement and reach
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of marketing data

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience with social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of email marketing tools and CMS platforms
  • Familiarity with Canva, Adobe, or other design tools
  • Understanding of marketing analytics (Google Analytics, social insights, etc.)
  • Current college student or recent graduate in Marketing, Communications, Business, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of marketing concepts and digital platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. 
  • Creative thinking with a willingness to learn.  

 

Education and Experience:

  • Current college student or recent graduate preferred.
  • A major or coursework in Marketing, Communications, Business, Nonprofit Management, or a related field is strongly encouraged.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); comfort working with databases is a plus.
  • Interested in nonprofit fundraising, community engagement, and mission-driven work.
