Student Worker Summer 2026- Work Study

Student workers in the Dean of Students Office support a high‑traffic, student‑centered environment and are expected to demonstrate professionalism, patience, compassion, and initiative. The student worker will assist with a variety of office and customer service duties, including answering phones, greeting visitors, supporting events, and completing other tasks as assigned to help the office run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

Perform general office and reception duties

Run errands on campus on a daily basis

Answer telephones; screen and route calls appropriately

Greet and assist visitors and students in person

Open, sort, and distribute incoming mail

Complete basic data entry and maintain accurate records

Use Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, TEAMS, and other office programs

Complete golf cart training and utilize a golf cart for approved tasks

Provide support for office programs and special events (set‑up, check‑in, etc.)

Deliver exemplary customer service to students, staff, faculty, and visitors

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

Currently enrolled Texas State University student earning work study and in good academic standing with a 2.5 GPA or better

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Reliable, punctual, and able to follow directions with minimal supervision

Comfortable interacting with students, faculty, staff, and visitors

Willingness to learn new tasks, systems, and procedures

Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and TEAMS; training provided as needed

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately

Training and Evaluation

Training will be provided for all office procedures, software, and golf cart usage.

Student employees are evaluated annually by the student worker supervisor, Roxane Morales, with feedback focused on performance, professionalism, and growth.

Work Schedule and Pay

Schedule: Part‑time, approximately 15–20 hours per week, based on class schedule and office needs.

Pay rate: Based on prior experience and departmental guidelines.
