Description:
The Materials Science, Engineering, and Commercialization Program is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic student worker to join our office. The MSEC student worker will assist administrative assistants in the department with various projects and daily administrative tasks. Please note, you will not be working in labs or on any research in this position.
Examples of duties:
- Professionally answer, screen, and transfer telephone calls, as well as take detailed and accurate messages
- Greet and assist students, faculty, staff, and visitors
- Clean department offices, conference rooms, and shared spaces on a daily and weekly basis
- Accurately file information and maintain confidentiality
- Maintain department email correspondence and conference room scheduling calendar
- Responsible for accurately receiving department packages/mail and distributing them to the correct individuals
- Assist with managing department inventory
- Maintain/create excel spreadsheets, department filing system, department newsletter, copies, and scans.
- Assist with reconciliation of department accounts and creation of invoices
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:
Max 25 hours a week for on campus employment; hours given will depend on your availability/course schedule and office needs. Student workers in our office work anywhere from 13-16hrs/wk on average, with the ability to pick up more hours as needed and over semester breaks.
Direct Supervisor: Jazina Jones
Employee Evaluation Process: Supervisor will evaluate employee at the end of the training period, and then at the end of each long semester.
Payrate: All students begin at the starting pay rate and increases are determined on a yearly basis based off performance.
