Summer 2026 | Social Media Assistant - Work Study

This position is for Summer 2026.

Are you passionate about creativity, social media, and global experiences? As a member of the Education Abroad team, you’ll play a key role in promoting study abroad opportunities and engaging students through digital content and marketing initiatives.

In this role, you will help bring the student experience abroad to life by creating engaging content and supporting outreach efforts. You’ll also gain hands-on experience in marketing, communications, and content strategy. 

About the Education Abroad Office

The Education Abroad Office at Texas State University supports students in exploring global learning opportunities through study abroad programs. We are committed to increasing access, awareness, and participation by providing resources, guidance, and engaging outreach to the campus community.

Job Duties

The Social Media Assistant plays an important role in supporting marketing and outreach efforts for the Education Abroad Office. In this role, you can expect to:

  • Create flyers, graphics, and video content for various social media platforms 
  • Assist in developing and implementing creative marketing campaigns 
  • Contribute innovative ideas for promoting study abroad programs 
  • Conduct basic marketing research on trends and student demographics 
  • Manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail  
  • Work both independently and collaboratively with team members 
  • Adapt to new tools, projects, and responsibilities as needed 
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support department goals 

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a current Texas State University student (undergraduate or graduate) 
  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours during the summer semester 
  • Must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA and be in good academic standing 

Other Considerations

  • Preferred majors: Marketing, Communications, Business, or related fields 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, etc.) 
  • Basic proficiency in Canva and Microsoft Office applications 
  • Strong organizational skills, including time management and attention to detail 
  • Availability to work a consistent weekly schedule during business hours

 

Students on an F1 or J1 visa are not eligible.
