Mail Services Student Worker (Work-Study) - Summer 2026

Texas State University Mail Services is seeking dependable and customer‑focused student workers for Summer 2026 to assist with the daily processing and distribution of mail and packages for university departments before the start of the Fall semester. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Scan, process, and sort incoming packages for university departments
  • Provide front‑counter assistance, including answering phones, responding to questions, and helping customers with mailing and shipping needs
  • Deliver mail to academic and administrative offices across campus using a Texas State vehicle
  • Follow established Mail Services procedures to ensure accuracy, safety, and efficiency

Requirements: 

  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to pass a driving record check (required for operating a Texas State vehicle on designated mail routes)
  • Reliability, punctuality, and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent customer‑service skills when interacting with students, faculty, and staff

Payrate determination: 
The starting pay rate is $10.50 per hour, pay rate may increase .25 to .50 after long semesters (fall & spring) of employment with a positive evaluation from their supervisor using the Student Employee Career Readiness Evaluation form. 

Employee Evaluation Process: 
Student employees will receive feedback mid-semester and at the end of each term through a one-on-one evaluation with their supervisor, focused on strengths, growth areas, and career competency development.
