Administrative Support


DEPARTMENT: The Science, Technology, and Advanced Research (STAR) Park is a 58-acre site that hosts STAR One, Texas State University’s first technology incubator dedicated to research and commercialization efforts.


JOB SUMMARY: The Administrative Support position is a part-time student worker position responsible for greeting and directing visitors as well as event management at STAR Park. Must be a current undergraduate student at Texas State University and have your own transportation as STAR Park is not located on any bus routes. 


JOB DUTIES:
• Maintain STAR Park email account, schedule appointments, maintain calendars
• Manage STAR Park conference rooms and reservations
• Assist STAR Park clients and visitors with facility needs
• Greet and direct visitors, answer phones, accept packages, and distribute mail
• Manage and coordinate event planning
• Assist with administrative projects, procurement tracking, client relations, and other duties as assigned

DIRECT SUPERVISOR:  Alma Apodaca, Administrative Assistant III


WORK SCHEDULE: Students in this position are expected to work up to 20 hours per week.

• Attention to detail
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external
• Ability to exercise independent judgement and work autonomously

 

EMPLOYEE EVALUATION PROCESS:  Student employees are evaluated by their supervisor at the end of each long semester. 


PAYRATE DETERMINATION:  This role begins at $10 per hour.  After working two long semesters (fall and spring) and earning a positive evaluation from your supervisor, you may qualify for a $0.25 pay increase.
