Economics Research Intern

EmployStats is a Texas-based economic consulting firm that provides economic and statistical analysis for legal, business, and government clients across the United States. Our work includes litigation support in employment discrimination, wage & hour disputes, economic damages, and other matters requiring rigorous data analysis.

Role Overview

The Economic Research Associate Intern role is designed for students graduating in Summer or Fall 2027 who are interested in applied economics, data analysis, and consulting.

This position begins as a part-time internship during the academic year, with the expectation that the candidate will transition into a full-time Economic Research Associate position after graduation, contingent on performance.

This is an in-office position in San Antonio, Texas.

Intern Phase (While in School)
• Approximately 15-20 hours per week
• In-office in San Antonio
• Work scheduled during regular office hours (Monday- Friday, 9 AM - 5 PM)

Post-Graduation Phase
• Full-time, in-office position in San Antonio
• Monday - Friday, 9 AM - 5 PM
• No remote or hybrid work

What You’ll Do

As an intern, you will support our economists on projects involving economic data analysis and litigation consulting.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing, cleaning, and organizing economic and financial datasets
  • Building and managing datasets in Excel and statistical software
  • Running data tabulations and statistical analyses using Stata (Python or R is a plus)
  • Assisting with research summaries and internal analyses
  • Supporting the preparation of client deliverables such as reports, presentations, and exhibits
  • Participating in team discussions and learning how economic analysis is applied in real litigation matters

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a student who is curious about applied economics and interested in working with real data to solve real problems.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field
  • Expected graduation: Summer or Fall 2027
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with data
  • Experience with Stata preferred
  • Familiarity with Python or R is a strong plus
  • Coursework in math, statistics, or computer science is beneficial
  • Must be able to work in person in our San Antonio office
