Consent and Prevention Peer Educator
Make a positive impact on our campus by becoming a Fraternity and Sorority Consent and Prevention Peer Educator! Applicants must be a current member of a registered Fraternity or Sorority on campus. This position aims to help foster a more positive sexual, social, and relational climate within the Fraternity and Sorority community at TXST. This position requires flexibility for evening presentations, including some Tuesdays. This position will plan campus-wide initiatives, co-develop presentation content and materials for presentations and events specific to the FSL community, co-facilitate violence prevention training to FSL peers across campus, provide resources, and promote and model a healthy lifestyle. Health topics covered include sexual violence, dating violence, interpersonal violence, stalking, alcohol, bystander intervention, consent, and sexual health. This position will work collaboratively with the Health Promotion Services staff.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Health Promotion Specialist staff, Graduate Assistants, and Students Against Violence officers in the development of violence prevention programs.
- Implement violence prevention programming with Health Promotion Specialist staff and other peer educators.
- Co-present violence prevention presentations to FSL peers.
- Attend and assist with violence prevention events and tabling.
- Attend Peer Educator weekly meetings, including mandatory training in the fall semester.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required:
- Must be a current member of a registered Fraternity or Sorority on campus.
- Strong communication skills: active listening, public speaking, small group interaction.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Computer skills: All MS Office programs.
- Working productively in a team environment.
Additional Requirements:
- All Peer Educators must:
- Serve as a role model for other students
- Hold at least a 2.5 GPA
- Have completed at least one semester
- Work the required 6-10 hours per week, including office hours, Peer Educator meetings, presentations, tabling, and outreach events. Some evening hours are required.

Supervision & Evaluation:
Consent and Prevention Peer Educators are supervised by Kelsey Banton, Health Promotion Program Manager. All Health Promotion Services peer educators are evaluated in a one-on-one meeting before the conclusion of each regular semester.
Pay Rate:
Consent and Prevention Peer Educators are paid $10.00/hr starting rate. Hourly pay rate increases may occur annually, as determined by University Health Services annual budget.
