Salary $11.50 per hour

Qualifications

  • This is a customer service intensive environment. Professional phone, e-mail and in-person etiquette is required.
  • The ability to effectively and tactfully communicate technical issues to non-technical people.
  • You must possess good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer knowledge or the ability to learn technology quickly is a must.
  • Advanced knowledge of iOS Operating Systems is a plus
  • Advanced computer knowledge consisting of but not limited to Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and virus and spyware diagnosis is a plus.
  • Database (MS SQL, Oracle, etc.) and work in enterprise software is a plus.
  • The ability to effectively research new and unfamiliar issues.

Examples of duties

  • Provide computer tech support for Facilities computer based systems via phone, e-mail and in person.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose software and hardware issues.
  • Research new and unfamiliar issues in provided knowledge guide or online.
  • Log detailed and accurate descriptions of each customer contact into a service management ticketing database.
  • Must be able to greet customers and effectively and tactfully communicate technical issues to non-technical people.
  • Perform computer moves (complete set up) as needed.
  • Set up Facilities staff on iOS devices.
  • Draft and edit knowledge (how-to) articles.
  • Edit technical documents (white papers, training documents, promotional materials).
  • Review and revise Facilities webpages using the university’s content management system.

  • Employee evaluation process - Student employees are evaluated by their supervisor at the end of each long semester. 
  • Payrate Determination - All Facilities Services student employees begin at the starting pay rate of $11.50 p/hr. and may receive a .50 increase after each long semester (fall and spring) of employment, provided they have a positive evaluation from their supervisor.
