About Us

Navigator is a local print mailer published by After Media that connects Austin-area businesses with their surrounding communities. The mailer offers a unique opportunity for local businesses to reach our local audience and specifically those who are interested in a healthy lifestyle. We are launching our first mailer in 2026 and building our sales force to connect local businesses with our audience.

The Role

We’re looking for motivated, outgoing people to sell ad placements in our Navigator mailer through door-to-door outreach to local businesses in the Austin area. This is a commission-only, independent contractor position — ideal for college students, anyone building sales experience, or self-starters who want to control their own schedule and income.

You’ll visit local shops, restaurants, service providers, and other businesses to introduce Navigator and close ad sales. You will be responsible for securing sales, obtaining payment, and following up to make sure ad copy and artwork are obtained. An Austin-area regional manager will be available to answer questions and track sales for each issue.

Compensation

  • Commission-based pay — you earn a percentage of every ad sale you close

What We’re Looking For

  • Professional and courteous. Our brand is inclusive and we want our advertisers to feel good working with us.
  • Courteous writing skills and strong follow-through 
  • Comfortable approaching business owners and decision-makers in person
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and organized
  • Access to your own transportation (you’ll be covering ground in the Austin metro)
  • A phone and email for scheduling follow-ups. (Please note, you will use our software/systems to enter orders, but no company hardware will be provided.)
  • No prior sales experience required — just energy and a willingness to learn

  • Type: Independent contractor (1099) — this is not an employee position
  • Schedule: Fully flexible; work on your own time
  • Location: Austin, TX metro area
  • Commitment: Sell for one mailer cycle or multiple — it’s up to you
  • Start: We’re hiring on a rolling basis

Important Notes

As an independent contractor, you are responsible for your own taxes, transportation, and expenses. No benefits are provided. You will receive a 1099-NEC for tax purposes if you earn $600 or more in a calendar year.
