GIS/Data Work Study Position
The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment is seeking a work study-eligible student worker to assist the Watershed Services GIS & Data Coordinator with a variety of tasks. Watershed Services is a multi-disciplinary team working on water-related projects that provide great experience in the environmental sciences. Projects include Texas Stream Team and Cypress Creek Project.
Responsibilities
Assist the GIS & Data Coordinator with preparing maps for internal and external customers, preparing data for GIS projects, processing partner requests, and entering/quality controlling water quality data, as well as skills with the following:
Preparing maps with ArcGIS Pro and Online
Using Outlook, Word, Excel, Office 365
Create and update spreadsheets, data entry
Compiling information/research as requested
Compose email responses
Researching to trouble shoot issues and find solutions
Ability to train others
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
The below qualifications are needed to be considered for this position:
Applicants must have superior interpersonal skills including dependability, responsibility, motivation, time management, organization, excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow directions.
Ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
The candidate should have at least introductory experience with Esri products ArcGIS Pro and or ArcGIS Online.
Must be able to work a minimum of 10 hours per week.

Preferred Qualifications
The below are preferred qualifications. Although not required, applicants with the below experience will receive higher consideration:
Are classified as a sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student
Experience with Microsoft Teams and Microsoft SharePoint Office
Skilled in ESRI Software (ArcPro, ArcOnline, Survey123, StoryMaps)Supervisor

Schedule
Applicants must be available during office business hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday – Friday. Occasional work on the weekends may be required.
Employee Evaluation Process
Student employees are evaluated by their supervisor at the end of each long semester.
Payrate Determination
All student employees begin at the starting pay rate and may increase by $1.00 after two long semesters (fall and spring) of employment with a positive evaluation form from their supervisor using the Student Employee Career Readiness Evaluation form.

Students without a vehicle must have a reliable method of getting to work. Students may utilize the Bobcat Shuttle Route 23 - Post Road. The bus stop is located at the main entrance of The Meadows Center.
