Job Posting: Part-Time Caretaker (Tues–Thurs, 9AM–3PM)

Location: Private Family Residence, San Marcos, TX
Schedule: Tuesday–Thursday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Start Date: February 3rd 
Pay: $11–$13 per hour (depending on experience)
Type: Part-time, in-home
Work environment: Parent works from home full-time

Are you looking to earn additional income during the Spring semester and gain hands-on experience caring for an infant? If you have experience with newborns or early childhood care, we’d love to connect with you! This role allows you to keep your evenings and weekends free while building valuable skills in infant caregiving, developmental support, and routine-based care.

Taking classes online or studying part-time? You’re welcome to complete schoolwork during downtime at our home, and you’ll have access to our streaming services as well.

A Typical Day:
You’ll arrive at our home during weekday work hours and start by checking in on our 3-month-old’s current needs—feeding schedule, naps, and overall mood. You’ll spend most of your time in our living room caring for the baby while a parent works from their computer in an adjacent room.

 

Overview:

We are a friendly family seeking a reliable, kind, and proactive caretaker to help care for our 3-month-old baby and assist with light household duties during the week. This position is perfect for a college student, part-time student, or someone looking for steady, part-time hours in a calm, supportive environment.

You’ll never be fully alone with the baby—parent will be present in the home—but you will be the primary caregiver during work hours.

Primary Responsibilities:

Childcare (Majority of Role):

  • Diaper changes
  • Rocking/soothing baby
  • Putting baby down for naps
  • Bottle feeding
  • Age-appropriate developmental play (e.g., tummy time, soft music, visual stimulation)

Light Housekeeping (as time allows):

  • Weekly vacuuming & mopping of common areas
  • Cleaning primary & children bathrooms (once per week)
  • Loading/unloading dishwasher
  • Children laundry (clothes, swaddles, burp cloths)

Ideal Candidate:

  • Has some experience with infants/ children (personal or professional)
  • Trustworthy, dependable, and attentive
  • Reliable transportation, Demonstrates hygienic qualities 
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working semi-independently
  • Non-smoker
