Job Description:

The department of Student Involvement and Engagement Department seeks an intermediate skilled Student Graphic Designer who is creative and passionate about branding, content creation, and graphic design. 

As a Student Graphic Designer, you will hone your craft in graphic design and refine your creative abilities. The ideal candidate has experience using graphic design programs, such as Adobe Creative Suite, and Canva, and enjoys presenting a complete, polished project on deadline. 

This position works on-campus in the LBJ Student Center and will begin Spring 2026 with option to continue in Fall 2026.

 

Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Create original and relatable marketing materials for the Division, Department, or Unit as assigned by supervisor.
  • Hands-on experience with graphic design platforms, specifically Adobe Illustrator and InDesign.
  • Research background information for content, fact-checking, and spell checking.
  • Interview students, faculty, and staff upon request regarding content.

 

Qualifications include:

  • Good attitude and willingness to challenge yourself and work in a team environment.
  • Experience working with Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe InDesign, Canva and other graphic design programs.
  • Experience creating and producing relatable marketing materials.
  • Storytelling skills that can be used to develop content and weave messaging through social campaigns.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Project management skills, with ability to prioritize and lead multiple tasks from concept through implementation utilizing workflow platform Monday.com.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.

 

Graphic Designer Requirements

  • Must have and maintain semester and an overall 2.5 Grade Point Average (GPA).
  • Must be a currently enrolled undergraduate student at Texas State University in good academic and conduct standing.
  • Possesses professional communication, time management, multitasking, detail-oriented, and results-oriented skills.

 

Additional information 

  • During the course of working with social media, the person in this position may be exposed to a variety of content outside of Texas State University’s control, including but not limited to content that could be interpreted as offensive, racist, sexist, homophobic, violent or extreme. The department of Student Involvement and Engagement will work with staff to minimize the exposure to and impact of such content.

Evaluation Process

  • Students will be evaluated during the interview process for their abilities meet qualifications, technical skills and deliver day-to-day responsibilities.

 

Payrate Determination

  • Payrate will be determined based on skill, knowledge, and experience demonstrated during interview process.
