Laboratory Assistant - Pediatrics

JOB SUMMARY

The Laboratory Assistant, under general supervision, performs various patient care services to include some delegated medical procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

  • Performing strep, flu, rapid COVID, & RSV tests
  • Swabbing patients for various illnesses
  • Setting up strep cultures
  • Performing bilirubin and urinalysis tests
  • On-the-job phlebotomy training to do venipunctures on patients for lipid panels or other blood tests
  • Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient results.
  • Maintain records which demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
  • Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies and documenting all QC activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and instrument maintenance.

SHIFTS

Morning Shift: 7:45AM - 12:30PM

Afternoon Shift: 1:00PM - 5:30PM

Evening Shift: 6:00PM - 10:30PM

Weekend Commitment: One or two weekends per month on either Saturday & Sunday mornings between 8:15AM - 1:15PM OR Friday & Saturday evenings between 6:00PM - 10:30PM.
