Store Manager at Kilwins Austin

Title: Kilwins East Village Store Manager (PT/FT)

Are you a passionate, hands-on leader ready to manage a dynamic retail environment where chocolate, ice cream, and customer smiles go hand in hand? Kilwins Austin, opening soon at East Village, is looking for an experienced Store Manager to lead our new location, oversee daily operations, and help bring handcrafted joy to our community. Training provided.

*Please note: the store opening is expected to be early March. The role start will coincide with that date; however there is an opportunity to do a two week training in late January, travel required, expenses and time paid.*

Hours: 25+ hours per week, depending on the business needs

Pay: $23.00 - $29.00 per hour, depending on experience level

Overview:

Kilwins Chocolate, Fudge, and Ice Cream is a celebrated confectionery brand, beloved for its handmade chocolates, rich original-recipe ice cream, and signature fudge crafted fresh daily in-store. At Kilwins, we don’t just sell sweet treats; we create them! We’re looking for a hands-on and creative Store Manager to lead our Austin, Texas location. This is a unique opportunity to manage a team, delight customers, and bring our gourmet treats to Austin. Training provided by Kilwins.

At Kilwins Austin, we offer a delicious experience with chocolates, original recipe ice cream, and a variety of made-in-store treats including hand-paddled fudge, caramel apples, brittles, caramel corns, and more. Guests will see—and smell—the magic being made fresh daily.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team Management: Hire, train, and motivate a strong team of associates and shift leads focused on delivering friendly, memorable service.
  • Store Operations: Manage day-to-day functions including scheduling, store cleanliness, production prep, and compliance with Kilwins brand standards.
  • Inventory Control: Handle ordering, receiving, and inventory tracking to ensure proper stock levels and minimize waste.
  • Customer Experience: Lead by example in providing excellent service and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
  • Financial Management: Monitor and manage sales performance, labor, and cost of goods to achieve profitability targets. Analyze daily and weekly reports to identify trends and implement improvements. Manage petty cash, deposits, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Reporting & Communication: Provide regular updates to the owner on store performance, staffing, and inventory needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to operate transactions in an accurate manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others.
  • Must be customer service oriented with outgoing personality and manners.
  • Ability to follow directions/instructions.
  • Our store is casual, but we do expect professionalism and punctuality.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred; additional education in business, culinary arts, or hospitality is a plus.
  • Experience: 2+ years of retail or food service management experience (preferably in ice cream, confectionery, or QSR environment).
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to inspire and guide a team toward shared goals. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Business Acumen: Proven ability to manage operations, control costs, and drive sales. Proficient in Microsoft tools such as Outlook, Excel and Word. Proficient with POS systems, inventory management, and basic accounting.
  • Customer Focus: Dedication to delivering exceptional guest experiences.
  • Availability: Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Must be able to occasionally lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time in retail store or training environment
  • Must be able to travel by aircraft (should you attend a training out of state) and drive an automobile and have a valid driver’s license

Store opening estimate at late February to early March. Ideally the store manager will attend a two week training in Michigan (expenses covered) in the last two weeks of January to prepare for store opening.
