Graduate Instructional Assistant - HIIM Department
The Department of Health Informatics & Information Management in the College of Health Professions has an opening for a Graduate Instructional Assistant (GIA) for the Spring 2026 semester. This position may support faculty on both the San Marcos and Round Rock Campus locations teaching on-campus and online courses.

Responsibilities
- Assist faculty members with student engagement, grading, and instruction for on-campus or online undergraduate courses
- Maintain confidentiality of information
- Communicate effectively with students and faculty both verbally and in writing
- Provide excellent customer service to students and faculty
- Complete tasks with attention to detail and schedule
Requirements
- Full-time graduate student with regular admission to a graduate degree program at Texas State University, without conditions
- Good academic standing, not on probation or suspension
- Enrolled in full-time graduate hours
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong skills with Canvas and Zoom
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a GIA or working with health information
- Current MHIM students are preferred and encouraged to apply
- Students in the College of Health Professions or a healthcare-related discipline
- Students taking classes on the Round Rock Campus are preferred
- Students in computer science, data science, or computer information systems with an interest in the healthcare field are welcome
- Strong computer skills including Excel, Python, SQL, and data management tools
