Associate Sales Engineer - IBM Modernization
Overview:
Precisely is the global leader in data integrity, helping businesses build accuracy, consistency, and context in their data. Our Ironstream solution enables the seamless integration of machine data from IBM Z and IBM i systems into modern observability and IT analytics platforms like Splunk and ServiceNow, empowering enterprises to achieve end-to-end visibility across their hybrid IT environments.
We are seeking a motivated and technically curious Associate Sales Engineer to join our Presales team, focusing on Precisely Ironstream solutions. This is an ideal opportunity for a recent college graduate or someone early in their career who is eager to learn and grow in the world of enterprise IT, mainframe modernization, and data integration.
As an Associate Sales Engineer, you'll work closely with Senior Sales Engineers and Account Executives to support technical sales efforts, demonstrate product capabilities, and build foundational knowledge of customer IT environments and challenges. You’ll be part of a team helping large enterprises bridge the gap between legacy infrastructure and modern observability tools.
What you will do:
• Assist in presales activities for Ironstream opportunities, including product demonstrations, proof-of-concept setups, and technical Q&A.
• Support discovery sessions to understand customer environments, challenges, and requirements related to IBM Z, IBM i, and IT operations.
• Work under the guidance of experienced Sales Engineers to deliver technical presentations tailored to the customer's needs.
• Develop and maintain a working knowledge of Ironstream and associated platforms (e.g., Splunk, ServiceNow, Elastic, IBM Z, IBM i).
• Collaborate with internal teams (Product, Sales, Marketing, Support) to ensure seamless communication and alignment.
• Participate in ongoing training and mentorship to build expertise in presales, enterprise software, and mainframe technologies.
• Help prepare documentation, solution architecture diagrams, and product positioning materials.
What we are looking for:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical discipline—or equivalent experience.
• Strong interest in technology, systems integration, and enterprise IT.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Willingness to learn about legacy systems (IBM Z, IBM i) and their role in modern IT ecosystems.
• Team-oriented attitude with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel occasionally to customer sites, events, or team meetings (as required).
Nice to Have (Not Required):
• Familiarity with Splunk, ServiceNow, or other observability/monitoring platforms.
• Exposure to mainframe or midrange systems (through school, internships, or prior roles).
• Internship or work experience in technical sales, IT support, or software implementation.
• Understanding of IT operations, enterprise infrastructure, or systems monitoring.
