Bobcat Connection Team: Connection Leader

POSITION OVERVIEW                                                    

The Bobcat Connection Team (BCT) is part of The Department and Student Involvement and Engagement (SI&E). Connection Leader (CLs) are a dedicated group of TXST student leaders. CL’s uphold a strong tradition of excellence and professionalism. They serve as a resource and guide to incoming students. They take great pride in TXST spirit and traditions while participating in Cat Camp, Bobcat Welcome Week, Bobcats Back, and River Fest. Connection Leaders report to the Coordinator for Campus Programming and BCT Student Coordinators. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES                           

• Assist in facilitating and staffing Spirit and Traditions Programs
• Aid in the preparation and day of logistics for all Cat Camp sessions such as check-in, nametag prep, signage, preparing perks for all programs, etc.
• Create a welcoming environment for new and returning students and facilitate connections among student groups
• Support marketing effort as needed (videos, photos, etc.)
• Participate in staff and professional development activities
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS                     

• Maintain at least a 2.25 GPA in both TXST cumulative and semester
• Attend Spring 2025 training general meetings held on select dates
• Be enrolled full-time for Fall 2025/Spring 2026
• Attend all mandatory training events (TBD)
• Availability to work all summer programs – Summer 2026 TBD 
• Able to walk long distances, stand for long periods of time, and some light lifting

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE                            

• Demonstrates a high level of responsibility, self-motivation, the ability to work as part of a team and independently, and upholds confidentiality of sensitive information
• Ability to conduct public speaking and assist with presentations such as NSO presentations, tabling events, and lead small group discussions
• Ability to provide excellent customer service to all students, family members, and guests
• Ability to maintain a positive attitude when learning new skills and working with varied audiences

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS                                               

• $10.00 per hour
• Lunch provided during Cat Camp programming days
