Spring 2026 | LBJSC Student Graphic Designer

START SPRING 2026

Our marketing team executes the story-telling strategies for programs, events, and facilities within the scope of the LBJ Student Center and occasionally other departments on the Texas State Campus. Duties and responsibilities include:    

  • Design LBJSC operations and programs, and when needed, other Student Success and campus units as directed.
  • Produce marketing materials that may include, but not limited to: ads, posters, brochures, newsletters, flyers, digital ads, displays, banners, window signs, special events, mobile apps, and websites.
  • Prepare final digital and print files, as well as deliver completed projects to clients as needed.
  • Maintain an orderly archive of projects.
  • Occasionally attend client meetings with the creative team.
  • Adhere to Texas State University and LBJSC branding and style guides.
  • Serve as a department ambassador and positively promote the departments at events and activities.
  • Assist with social media or experiential marketing efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Able to attend a new employee orientation and training.
  • Must be a registered student at Texas State University.
  • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and take direction well.
  • Be appropriately dressed and maintain a professional and clean working atmosphere.
  • Must present a design portfolio and have a basic understanding of graphic design concepts and skills.
  • Must be familiar with Mac platform and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
  • Must be familiar with print and digital formats (native files, JPG, TIFF, PNG, EPS, PDF, etc.).

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a creative team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and take direction well.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Organized, punctual, reliable, and have keen attention to detail.
  • Interest in marketing, student affairs, retail, and/or social media.

Employment Starting Pay Rate, Dates, and Times

  • $10.00/hour* with increase eligibility over time. Minimum one-year commitment, including summer, is required. Minimum 12 hours commitment per week scheduled Monday - Friday between 8:00 a.m. – 5 p.m.  
  • *EMPLOYEE EVALUATION PROCESS: Student employees are evaluated by their supervisor at the end of each long semester (Fall/Spring). They are also evaluated at the end of summer if they were employed both Summer I and II sessions. 
  • *PAY-RATE DETERMINATION: All student employees begin at the starting pay rate for their job title and may increase by .50 after each long semester of employment with a “meets” or “exceeds” expectations overall evaluation from their supervisor using the LBJSC Student Employee Performance Review form.

Supervision

  • Student Graphic Designers report to the Student Manager and Design Lead, and receives mentorship from professional graphic designers. This position does not supervise any others.

Other Information

  • Student Graphic Designers will receive regular performance appraisals each semester
  • A condition of employment is that student employees are expected to assist in key events throughout the year.
  • Student employees are expected to portray a positive image, both internally and externally of the Illini Union by displaying high standards of service, integrity, punctuality, politeness, and professionalism.
