Fall 2025 | Work-Study: Production Technician
The Texas State University Performing Arts Center is hiring a Work-Study Production
Technician for Fall 2025. The Production Technician will report directly to the
Operations Manager of the Performing Arts Center. **This position requires in person
employment and is on an event-by-event basis.**
Description:
This hands-on position is ideal for students interested in exploring all areas of
technical theatre and event production. You'll gain experience in lighting, sound,
projection, video, and stage operations, while also helping to maintain and organize
technical equipment.
Duties:
• Set up, operate, and strike lighting, audio, projection, and staging equipment
Work backstage to assist artists and productions
• Operate consoles, sound boards, projectors, and other technical systems
(training provided)
• Help maintain and organize production equipment and storage areas
• Follow safety protocols and venue procedures
• Perform other production-related tasks as needed
Qualifications:
• Interest in live event production, theatre tech, or AV systems
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Able to work evenings/weekends
• Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work in a team
• Willingness to learn and take initiative
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with live events or technical theatre
• Familiarity with production equipment (lighting, sound, video)
• Comfortable working in fast-paced or live performance environments
Employee performance will be evaluated on an annual basis. Each student employee
