This Graduate Assistant (GA) position is at the Round Rock campus and reports to the Supervisor of the Testing Center, Round Rock (TCRR). TCRR is a unit of the Testing, Evaluation, and Measurement Center (TEMC).  TCRR provides academic and career testing services for students and members of our community.

The focus of the TCRR GA role is as an exam appointment scheduler and lead proctor who performs their duties in a fast-paced, multi-tasking office that handles confidential materials that are subject to FERPA rules. The GA provides superior customer service and people-first skills while scheduling exam appointments and proctoring academic and career exams with and without accommodations. Additionally, the GA communicates in-person and by phone to set appointments and answer testing services questions, responds to emails and other communication apps, posts payments, keeps the testing center clean, and maintains exam records and logs. Other responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.

Eligibilities:

  • Must be enrolled in 9 hours of graduate courses at TXST & maintain at least 3.0 GPA
  • Must take all graduate courses at TXST Round Rock and/or online
  • Must work 20 hrs/week, every week, at TCRR during hours of operation
  • Must maintain a consistent, timely work schedule, and be on time
  • Must show ability to communicate in writing without using AI or ChatGPT
  • Must show ability to attend to simultaneous priorities 

Job Duties:

  • Schedule and prepare exams; respond to requests through scheduling apps, walk-ins, emails, and phone calls
  • Administer and proctor exams, including monitoring closed circuit camera system
  • Check-in examinees; maintain security and confidentiality of examinees and exams
  • Complete exam records and logs, and return exams by email or exam apps
  • Take payments accurately and securely, and log appropriately
  • Maintain appearance and cleanliness of facilities daily
  • Assist with other office duties as needed

Preferences:

  • Experience performing at a high level in a fast-paced position with interruptions
  • Experience managing and completing multiple tasks at the same time
  • Experience proctoring, teaching, scheduling, social work, or counseling
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities

The TEMC is dedicated to supporting students, faculty, and the community with testing and evaluation related needs. The TEMC is composed of four offices: Testing Lab Services; the Academic Testing for Students with Disabilities (ATSD) office; Scanning Services; and the Testing Center Round Rock (TCRR). By providing a variety of testing and scanning options with specialized equipment in a secure testing environment, it is our goal to support student persistence, reduce barriers to graduation, and support faculty research.
