General Position Description

New Student and Family Experiences seeks an enthusiastic Student Coordinator to oversee the recruitment, selection, training, and engagement of the New Student Orientation Leader team for large-scale programs, including Bobcat Welcome Week. This role provides critical leadership in building a positive staff culture, fostering healthy team dynamics, and ensuring effective communication among student leaders.

Primary Duties

  • Coordinate all aspects of student staff recruitment and selection for Orientation Leaders. 
  • Design and deliver training, workshops, and ongoing professional development for OL staff.
  • Oversee morale by executing staff engagement activities and leading committees, including end-of-year celebration and recognition of student staff.
  • Facilitate regular staff meetings and serve as a key contact for student staff concerns.
  • Maintain clear, timely professional communication with Orientation Leaders.
  • Support daily staff supervision and uphold expectations for conduct and teamwork.
  • Serve as a liaison between orientation leaders and the professional staff team.
  • Assist with staffing needs during Bobcat Welcome Week signature events.
  • Produce and schedule social media content to support OL recruitment and program promotion.
  • Maintain files and other records of their work throughout the duration of the position.

Schedule & Compensation

Work 10–20 hours/week during fall/spring; minimum 40 hours/week in June–August. Paid $13/hour, plus residence hall bed space and dining dollars from mid-May to end of July.

Position Requirements

  • 3.0 cumulative GPA; prior experience as a Texas State Orientation Leader.
  • Undergraduate student for fall 2025/spring 2026, not registered for summer 2026.

General Position Description

New Student and Family Experiences invites applications for a Student Coordinator to organize infrastructure, inventory, materials preparation, and logistics for New Student Orientation and Bobcat Welcome Week. This position is vital for ensuring program resources, scheduling, and on-the-ground execution, while supporting team communication and planning behind-the-scenes operations.

Primary Duties

  • Track and manage inventory for program materials, supplies, and equipment. 
  • Prepare, pack, and distribute materials for Orientation and Welcome Week events.
  • Develop and implement logistical plans for event set-up, scheduling, and transitions.
  • Coordinate logistical aspects of special events, including resource fairs.
  • Communicate scheduling and assignments for staff on event days.
  • Produce and schedule social media content to support OL recruitment and program promotion.
  • Maintain communications around logistical changes with staff and campus partners.
  • Support accessibility, emergency plans, and compliance with university policies during events.
  • Maintain files and other records of their work throughout the duration of the position.
