Job Title: Youth Worship Band Leader

Reports To: Senior Minister (with coordination from the Director of Music & Arts) 

Location: First Protestant Church, New Braunfels, TX

Employment Type: Part-time, Hourly (Intern-level for college students)

Schedule: Wednesdays, 4:30–8:00 PM (paid), plus Sunday morning worship attendance (unpaid)

Position Overview:

First Protestant Church is seeking a committed, musically gifted Youth Worship Band Leader to shepherd and develop our teenage worship band, creating an environment in which all are welcome while pushing the group towards musical excellence. This leader will rehearse weekly with student musicians and vocalists, leading them in preparing and performing 2–3 worship songs for our Wednesday night youth Bible study. The ideal candidate is a guitar-playing (or piano) worship leader who is passionate about discipling teens through music and worship, and who is actively engaged in the life of the church.

Responsibilities:

• Lead weekly youth band rehearsals on Wednesdays from 5:30–6:30 PM
• Lead the youth band in worship for the Wednesday evening Bible study from 6:30–7:30 PM
• Mentor and develop teen musicians, both instrumentalists, vocalists, and tech/media roles, fostering spiritual growth and musical excellence and technical skills.
• Coordinate song selection in collaboration with the Director of Music & Arts and youth ministry leadership
• Weekly 30 minute meeting with Senior Minister prior to 5:30pm rehearsal
• Attend a weekly Sunday worship service at First Protestant Church

Possible Job Expansion Areas:

• Occasionally participate with the 11:00 AM contemporary worship team or serve as a substitute worship leader per the request of the Senior Minister. Potential for regular participation.
• Opportunity to teach private music lessons through the First Protestant Music School (schedule and pay negotiated separately), per request of the Director of Music & Arts 

Qualifications:

• Regular attender of First Protestant Church
• Demonstrated experience in a church band setting (youth worship experience preferred)
• Strong musical proficiency—guitar skills preferred
• Heart for ministry, mentorship, and worship discipleship
• Reliable, organized, and able to communicate effectively with youth, parents, and church staff
• College students welcome to apply; pay will be commensurate with intern-level experience

Compensation:

• Hourly position, based on experience and qualifications
• Intern-level pay for college students
• Opportunities to increase hours through additional worship leading or music instruction
