Office Assistant | Work Study - Recruiting and Retention in The Graduate College

The Graduate College is seeking a work study student to work with the Recruiting and Retention team as an Office Assistant. This position will report to Austin Allen, Recruiting Coordinator, and Ashley Carrington, Student Development Specialist II, and will assist with a variety of events and initiatives. The Graduate College hosts multiple large-scale events (reaching 100-500 students each) and over 100 small-scale events (reaching 10-100 students each) every academic year. The payrate is based on the expected needs for the semester hours. Evaluations for this position are completed by both the Recruiting Coordinator and Student Development Specialist each semester. 

Job Duties:

  •  Perform data entry
  • Assist with virtual and in-person events (including packing items, moving boxes, table set up, name tag creation, etc.)
  • Catalog new items and assist with inventory for existing items
  • Deliver items around campus and hang posters
  • Assist with outreach projects such as brochure distribution and email communication
  • Assist with maintaining inventory of all promotional items
  • Assist with The Graduate College’s website maintenance and creative needs, such as videos
  • Serve as backup for front office reception when needed during scheduled work hours
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Required Qualifications:

  • 2.0 minimum GPA for undergraduate students or 3.0 for graduate students
  • Detail oriented
  • Able to follow oral and written instructions
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Familiarity with Teams and Zoom preferred but not required
  • Office/higher education experience preferred but not required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Availability to start working as soon as possible as a work study student
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite

Work Environment:

Physical requirements include the ability to lift/carry up to 10-25 pounds occasionally, ability to operate computer, telephone, and office equipment. Subject to sitting, client/customer contact, standing, walking across campus, vision to monitor, repetitive motion, stooping/kneeling, squatting, bending, and reaching to perform essential functions.
