Talent Search San Marcos Academic Year (2025-2026) Tutor
Continuation of this position is contingent upon grant funding.
Reports to the Director of the Talent Search San Marcos Program.
Responsible for providing individual and/or group tutoring to middle and high school students enrolled in The Talent Search San Marcos Program (San Marcos High School, Owen Goodnight Middle School, Miller Middle School)
Tutors work to enhance students' subject understanding and foster meta-learning by teaching effective learning and study strategies. They also serve as positive role models, showing passion and commitment while supporting and empowering college-bound middle and high school students with the potential for higher education success.

Off Campus Job Location- (This is an off-campus role and applicants must have reliable transportation to be considered for employment). You must have reliable transportation to get to the target schools:
- San Marcos High School (2601 Rattler Rd, San Marcos, TX 78666)
- Owen Goodnight Middle School (1301 N State Highway 123, San Marcos, TX 78666)
- Miller Middle School (301 Foxtail Run, San Marcos, TX 78666)
Mandatory Training 1 week prior to starting (via meetings at the target schools and or on teams/zoom)
Duties
- Provide academic tutoring (individual and small group) to middle and high school students
- Tutor and assist students with daily homework and assignments.
- Participate in tutor training sessions, team meetings, and additional workshops as arranged.
- Maintain up-to-date records of tutoring contacts and submit records to Director weekly.
- Assist with additional duties as needed.
Offsite job- located at the following schools:

Supervision
- Talent Search San Marcos Program Director- Direct
- Talent Search San Marcos Grant Coordinator- Indirect
Work Schedule
- 2-3 days per week, 1-2 hours per day
- Mornings and Evenings (before/after school depending on campus and needs)
- Weekends as needed
Required Qualifications
- Experience tutoring on a variety of core subjects (Math, Science, English).
- Must be available to travel to all three target schools.
- Experience working with middle school and high school students preferred.
- Demonstrated organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in fast paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Preference given to applicants with Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling or related program of study.
- Preference given to current K-12 teacher, providing instruction in one of the core subjects (Math, Science, English)
- 2-3 years of experience tutoring on a variety of core subjects (Math, Science, English).
