Fall 2025 | Service Desk Student Employee - Work Study

Job Summary

The Service Desk/ALIAS (Alkek Laboratory of Immersive Arts and Sciences) in Alkek One of the Alkek Library is looking for a student employee to help patrons check out equipment, act as a tour guide for patrons, and help with other duties as needed at the Alkek One or ALIAS Service Desks. They will also maintain the YouStar Studios spaces, including YouStar Video I and II, the Production Suite, Audio Studio A and B, along with the Design Space or the ALIAS spaces including the ALIAS Virtual Production Studio and ALIAS Music Production. Student employees will be trained in the spaces' software, such as Ableton and Native Instruments, and will be required to help patrons troubleshoot issues.

Job Duties

• Assist patrons in Alkek One
• Manage Alkek One equipment, including support of YouStar and ALIAS Studios
• Participate in daily rounds to clean areas and check equipment
• Assist with audio and visual needs for the Alkek One and ALIAS team as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Employee evaluation process

Employees will receive an evaluation each semester from the supervisor. They will also complete a self-evaluation.

Payrate Determination

Payrate is determined by evaluations and budget needs.
