FALL 2025 WORK-STUDY | Student Office Assistant

Department: The Center for Diversity and Gender Studies (CDGS) is a part of the College of Liberal Arts, one of the seven colleges at Texas State University. CDGS, originally named Center for Multicultural and Gender Studies, was established at the beginning of the 1984 academic year.  Our mission is to assist students and faculty in preparing for a pluralistic society

Job Summary: The Center for Diversity and Gender Studies (CDGS) is looking for student employees eager to gain work experience in an office setting. The student must be comfortable working in a professional, diverse setting and have an understanding of the importance of confidentiality.

Job Duties:

Responsible for providing clerical office support including

  • Greeting students, faculty, and staff
  • Filing, copying, answering phone calls, and other office duties as assigned
  • Creating flyers
  • Managing social media sites
  • Front desk coverage
  • Assisting CDGS Staff with various duties as assigned

You must be enrolled at least 12 hours and have been awarded work study.

On Campus location: THH 478

Work Schedule: Students in this position are expected to work between 10-16 hours per week. Additionally, applicants must be able to work between 8:00 a.m. and
5:00 p.m.

Direct Supervisor: Jonafa Banbury

Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Basic clerical skills including typing, answering phones, copying, filing, and professionalism
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Social media, webdesign, and Canva skills are a plus!

Employee Evaluation Process: Student employees are evaluated by their supervisor at the end of each long semester. 

Pay-rate Determination: Pay is determined by the number of hours available to work and the amount of work-study awarded and is based on the student wage range established by the University Pay Plan.  Pay may increase by .25 after two long semesters (fall & spring) of employment with a positive evaluation from their supervisor using the Student Employee Career Readiness Evaluation form
