George's Team Member | Fall '25 Work Study

George’s Team Member

George’s is a popular hangout space within the LBJ Student Center that offers entertainment, relaxation, and campus community engagement opportunities for Texas State University students. George’s Team Members are responsible for providing exceptional customer service and helping create a welcoming, fun, and inclusive environment. Team Members support a variety of activities, including special events, equipment checkout, and maintaining the overall atmosphere of George’s.

Fall 2025

Job Duties:

  • Create a welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and guests.
  • Assist in planning and executing daytime, evening, and weekend events.
  • Serve as a resource by answering questions about the LBJ Student Center and Texas State University.
  • Ensure the space remains clean and organized, including:
    • Floors, tables, and counters
    • Trash cans and recycling
    • Gaming areas and equipment
  • Monitor game areas to prevent damage or misuse of equipment.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports and check-out logs.
  • Assist with event setup, including staging, audio/visual equipment, and technical needs.
  • Communicate with clients to determine event or equipment needs.
  • Actively promote upcoming events during your shift.
  • Check out and return gaming equipment to patrons.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements and Qualifications: 

  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to complete Food Handler training (provided by George’s).
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and think quickly in dynamic situations.
  • Familiarity with Texas State University resources and campus layout.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a high-traffic environment.
  • Availability for a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Willingness and ability to lift heavy objects as needed.
  • Interest in learning technical equipment setup and support.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to work with staff and other student workers.

Must be currently enrolled at Texas State University and maintain a 2.25 GPA

As a George’s Team Member, you are expected to comply with all aspects of the job description.

Direct Supervisor:  Michelle Kneupper (Interim) 

EMPLOYEE EVALUATION PROCESS:   Team Members are evaluated by their supervisor at the end of each long semester (Fall/Spring). Additional evaluations occur after Summer II if employed during both Summer I and II.

PAYRATE DETERMINATION: All employees start at the base rate. A $0.50/hour increase is available after each long semester with a “meets” or “exceeds” performance evaluation.
