LBJSC Marketing
Our marketing team executes the story-telling strategies for programs, events, and facilities within the scope of the LBJ Student Center as well as serving as a key collaborator with other departments on the Texas State Campus. The LBJSC Marketing Office is an in-house, departmental marketing team. We provide creative service to the LBJ Student Center and its chartered student organizations. Our creative services include branding, design, photography, video, and social media.
Position Summary:
Talented students are sought to take photos and video at events and programs to be used in wide variety of marketing communications. Student Digital Media Specialists will be expected to capture the energy and experience of these event and the participants. Student Digital Media Specialists will have the opportunity to build their own portfolio of work through this employment opportunity.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the delivery of a wide range of photographs and videos from multiple events and programs.
- Processing and editing videos and photographs as needed for final use.
- Upload videos to shared location to review/cut/edit.
- Upload photos to shared server/file location where marketing staff have access to photos. Frequency of uploads to be determined on case-by-case basis.
- Meet regularly with marketing staff to review upcoming events, required photos and videos.
- Transports, sets up, and operates various production equipment including cameras, audio and video recorders, lighting equipment, props, and microphones for location production.
- Collects b-roll footage of campus as well as interviews.
- Supports the team throughout the production process, which may include finding interview subjects, creating graphics, and presenting to client and other constituents.
- Helps to sustain and guide creative process.
- Assists in developing interview questions and storyboards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Organizational and Working Relationship:
- Student Digital Media Specialists will report to the Student Manager and work closely with all marketing staff.
- Student Digital Media Specialists do not supervise any other employees.
Required Qualifications:
- Able to attend a new employee orientation and training.
- Must be a registered student at Texas State University.
- Ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively and take direction well.
- Be appropriately dressed and maintain a professional and clean working atmosphere.
- Strong photography and videography skills are essential.
- Experience with video editing software Adobe Premiere, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects.
- Availability in evenings and on weekends

- Ability to work independently and as a member of a creative team.
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and take direction well.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
- Organized, punctual, reliable, and have keen attention to detail.
- Interest in marketing, student affairs, retail, and/or social media.
- Own camera equipment recommended.
- Previous experience in marketing, advertising, mass communication, public relations, or other related field.
Employment Starting Pay Rate, Dates, and Times
$10.00/hour* with increase eligibility over time. Minimum one-year commitment, including summer, is required. Minimum 12 hours commitment per week scheduled Monday - Friday between 8:00 a.m. – 5 p.m.
*EMPLOYEE EVALUATION PROCESS: Student employees are evaluated by their supervisor at the end of each long semester (Fall/Spring). They are also evaluated at the end of summer if they were employed both Summer I and II sessions.
*PAY-RATE DETERMINATION: All student employees begin at the starting pay rate for their job title and may increase by .50 after each long semester of employment with a “meets” or “exceeds” expectations overall evaluation from their supervisor using the LBJSC Student Employee Performance Review form.

Student Digital Media Specialists will receive regular performance appraisals each semester
A condition of employment is that student employees are expected to assist in key events throughout the year.
