Building Operations Team Member
Job Summary: Building Operations is an important department within the LBJ Student Center that ensures the building's cleanliness and maintenance for Texas State University students and staff. Building Operations Team Members are responsible for providing exceptional customer service and helping provide a clean and pleasant environment. Team Members support a variety of activities that contribute to maintaining the overall cleanliness and appearance of the LBJ Student Center.
Job Duties:
Create a welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and guests.
Assist in planning and executing daytime, evening, and weekend events.
Serve as a resource by answering questions about the LBJ Student Center and Texas State University.
Trash Removal and cleaning of cans
Recycling Pick up
Sweep and Mop Stairwells
Mop/ Auto scrub Hard flooring
Stock custodial Closets
Dust Baseboards & Windowsills
Clean walls and baseboards
Vacuum Carpeting and stain extraction
Clean and polish water fountains and elevators
Clean Microwaves
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Ability to troubleshoot and think quickly in dynamic situations.
Familiarity with Texas State University resources and campus layout.
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
Ability to multitask in a high-traffic environment.
Availability for a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends.
Willingness and ability to lift heavy objects as needed.
Interest in learning cleaning equipment.
Positive attitude and willingness to work with staff and other student workers.

Direct Supervisor: Custodial Supervisor (Robert-Hollub-Fletcher)
Employment Details:
Evaluation Process: Team Members are evaluated by their supervisor at the end of each long semester (Fall/Spring). Additional evaluations occur after Summer II if employed during both Summer I and II.
Pay Rate Increases: All employees start at the base rate. A $0.50/hour increase is available after each long semester with a “meets” or “exceeds” performance evaluation.
